| The National park is located in the South of Utah occupying area of 150 qu.km. The park is well-known for picturesque mountain valleys, pine forests and fantastic cliffy terraces, which were shaped by wind and water. Bryce Canyon stretches for 31 km around the forest-covered plateau Paunsaugunt (2 700 m above sea level). Here and there reddish queer figures rise over the canyon (some of them reach 70 m. in height). Wonderful panoramas open from here. Bryce Canyon has one of the best viewpoints in USA. |

| A mighty volcano eruption happened here about a half million years ago. Its ashes covered almost a quarter of North America. The crater was 50 x 70 km in size. In the place of the catastrophe a unique ecosystem had gradually formed. At the close of the 19th century president Grant signed a law about the foundation of Yellowstone NP, the first one in USA. It's the biggest national park of the country. Such rare animals as lynxes, bears, pumas and bison live here. The national park's also known for its geysers. The highest of them - Steamboat, its fountain raises up to 80 m.. Scenic landscapes, rare animals and geysers annually attract to Yellowstone about 3 mln. tourists. |
