| MT. EVEREST |
| Chomolungma - Everest - Sagarmatha - different names of the highest summit of our planet - 8848 m. It's located in Himalayas, on the frontier between Nepal and China. The most beautiful view of the mountain is opened from Tibet side, from Nepal side Everest looks unpretentiously - it's almost unnoticeable because of adjacent mountains. Firstly the height of the peak was measured by George Everest the retired Surveyor-General of India. Since 1920th many climbers had tried to conquer Everest but unsuccessfully. Only 29th May 1953 New Zealander Edmund Hillary and Nepalese Tenzing Norgay reached the summit. |
