    32 photo galleries from a travel of German photographer Bernhard Kern. Every gallery's dedicated to a certain tour of the author - some of them has a lot of nice landscapes - for instance the 15th gallery with views of Sigiriya (Lion Rock). I also like the gallery of tropical flowers (9th gallery). All photo tours are accompanied with interesting travel notes (in German), some contains a map of Sri Lanka with a tour route.

    These are more than 100 pictures from this sunny island - ancient cities (including views of famous Sigiriya), landscapes (I like the "Scenary" photo), urban landscapes of Colombo, exotic beaches, sunsets, tea fields and animals (there is a photo of a leopard).


    SIGIRIYA - LION ROCK
    In the middle of Sri Lanka island there is a very high rock Sigiriya (Lion Rock). Its form closely resembles a lion who's going to jump. In 5th century here, among jungles an amazing palace was built. The palace was many-storied. Its roof touched clouds. Its walls were decorated with beautiful frescoes. The palace faced a park with paths, pavilions, orchards and fountains. Later the palace was destroyed, Sigiriya emptied. Jungles devoured its ruins. Only in the beginning of the last century it was found again. Today the archeologists work here. UNESCO entered Sigiriya in the list of important cultural objects.
