    ULURU NATIONAL PARK
In a hot Australian desert there is a strange solid rock, 348 m in height. The locals consider the rock as a sacred place binding it with many legends. They name it Uluru - "a place where sometimes a shadow appears". If you travel 30 km to south-east, you meet another cliffy massif - so called Olga hills. Their height reaches up to 546 m. The locals name them Katayuta - "a mountain with many heads". The geologists defined that Uluru rock and Olga hills are remains of ancient mountains, whose age is simply amazing - about 600 mln. years! Australian government organized an extensive national park around the Olga hills and Uluru rock. Its area is 1 300 qu. km. One can meet unique animals. Among them there are 5 species of serpents and a lizard 2.5 m long.
